Open your life, open your hands (Parish magazine article - August). It was a real privilege to address the Ordination of Deacons service in Wells Cathedral in July. Reflections on a visit to Summerlands - Bishop Peter Taunton. ‘I am honoured, so honoured that a Bishop came to see me’ were the words that rang through the corridor as I left a patient in Magnolia House. The words were accompanied by a curtsy. All of this from someone well into their 90s! It was both moving and humbling.

A sobering thought - a message for Lent from Bishop Peter Taunton. Many of you will have read or heard about the report ‘An anatomy of Economic reality’ that was published just a few weeks ago. In a detailed and startling analysis it offered a snapshot of an increasingly divided nation where the richest 10% of the population are more than 100 times as wealthy as the poorest 10%. The prime minister described the findings of the report as ‘sobering.’
