The Diocese of Bath and Wells | Introduction

Mission

Mission in Bath and Wells is led by a network of six main groups, collectively the Mission Forum:

Each group develops its own vision and strategy to share knowlege and expertise in their field.

Some of these groups also cover other related areas of work such as the Environment and Zambia Link.

Our aims

We use the following Anglican Five Marks of Mission as our guiding aims:

  1. To proclaim the good news of the Kingdom
  2. To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
  3. To respond to human need by loving service
  4. To seek to transform unjust structures of society
  5. To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain the life of the earth

Our work - Changing Lives for Mission

Under the strategy of Changing Lives and Changing Churches for Changing Communities, the Mission Forum offers advice, resources and training to clergy and laity, parishes and deaneries.  This includes the successful Mission Shaped Ministry course, taylored local events, the Partnership for Missional Church pilot and diocesan events such as biannual Open Forums.

We seek to encourage and support lay pioneers, as well as those who are considering ordained pioneer ministry within the diocese.
